About the package
Shark Alley diving packages are a big hit with our guests who love Great White Sharks. Our packages start from the express package with 2 dives and 1 night’s accommodation to a fantastic 4 night shark package.
The shark expeditions take place between Dyer Island and Geyser Rock which is teeming with sea life! Cape Fur Seals, Jackass Penguins and a wide variety of sea birds can be seen on your trip… and with all this food around… the Great White Sharks are sure to be there!!! Separating Geyser and Dyer Island is a channel aptly named “Shark Alley,” arguably THE prime spot in the world for encountering the Great White Shark.
Your unique and memorable shark cage diving and viewing experience includes breakfast and briefing on arrival at Kleinbaai harbour, where the skipper and crew await you for a 3-4 hour trip at sea including a 15-20 minute ride out to the dive location and back. Unlimited cage and viewing time with an experienced dive master, diving equipment, towels and refreshments on the boat. An afternoon return where you will have the opportunity of viewing and buying a DVD following the day’s events.
You will be staying with us at the Roundhouse in De Kelders which is also THE supreme location for Whale Watching in the world and is home of the Southern Right Whale from July – December with 200+ Whales in the bay. Gansbaai boasts a variety of adventure activities, exciting trips and experiences for all.
Self Drive
There are 2 stunning roads to take to Gansbaai. The first and quickest is to drive up the N2 past Somerset West and then up Sir Lowry’s mountain pass. This is a stunning road and there is a viewpoint at the top offering spectacular views over Cape Town and across to the Winelands. If you are lucky you will even see the troop of Baboons hanging around in the car park (Just don’t leave your car door open or bags unattended as the Baboons are always looking for a treat) The drive is beautiful through the mountains to Hermanus and then Gansbaai.
The second and preferred option is the coastal road (R44) when driving on the N2 just after Somerset west and at the base of Sir Lowry’s Pass take a right into Gordons Bay. Then when at Gordons Bay take a left and follow the coastal road along the cliff edges. The drive is breath-taking and there are plenty of places to pull over to stop and enjoy the views and take photos of False Bay. The road will finally take you to Kleinmond and after this onto the R43 to the Right to Hermanus and then Gansbaai.
Private Transfer
This is a special service we offer to our guests and can pick you up when and where you like. Many of our clients who do not want to hire a car book our private transfer from the Airport or Cape Town. The good thing about private transfer is that if you are staying in Cape Town then you can arrange for us to pick you up in the afternoon after your day’s excursions in Cape Town. Then you will not miss a precious day with travel arrangements.
If you wish and have the time then we can drive along the coastal road (30 mins – 1 hour longer) and stop in Betty’s Bay at the Penguin Colony for a quick visit. This penguin colony is the largest in the cape region with over resident 5,000 penguins. This is the most successful breading colony in southern Africa and to make it better this colony is away from the crowds of Cape Town mass tourism such as at Boulder Beach Penguin colony.

Shark Diving Shuttle
The Shark Diving Shuttle leaves each day early morning from Cape Town to Gansbaai for the tours. The bus waits in Gansbaai whilst the clients are on the tour and then returns early afternoon back to Cape Town. This service is obviously weather dependent and if the weather is bad and tours cancelled then there will not be a bus running. All buses drive over the mountain pass route both ways.

1 Night 2 Dive - Shark Alley Express Itinerary

Day 1:
Arrive in Gansbaai for your first Great White Shark Tour. The tour is 2 1/2 – 3 hours long and you will be full of adrenaline on this trip as this will be the first time you have seen a Great White shark! Following your tour you will check into the Roundhouse and enjoy the afternoon at your leisure. Overnight The Roundhouse B&B.
If you do not have a car we will take you to restaurants and local attractions
Day 2:
Wake up early and head down to the crew house for your second dive with the Great White Sharks. This time you will be much more prepared, relaxed and composed on your tour. Most clients take much better photos on their second tour as they are much more prepared and composed.
Following your tour you can freshen up and have a shower and then check out of the Roundhouse.
2 Night 1 Dive - Shark Alley Diver Itinerary

Day 1:
Arrive at your leisure and enjoy the stunning coastal cliff edge hiking trails and best land based Whale watching in the world!. Overnight The Roundhouse B&B.
Day 2:
This morning you will embark on your scheduled Great White Shark Tour. Enjoy 3 hours of adrenaline pumped action on the shark cage diving boat. The tour is 2 1/2 – 3 hours long and you will be finished at around 12-1PM, the afternoon is to be enjoyed at your leisure. Overnight The Roundhouse B&B.
Day 3:
Enjoy breakfast at the Roundhouse and have a last stroll along the rocks watching the Whales before checking out

Day 1:
Arrive in Gansbaai at your Leisure and spend the afternoon enjoying the best land based Whale watching in the world.
Day 2:
This morning you will embark on your scheduled Great White Shark Tour. The tour is 2 1/2 – 3 hours long and this will give you an excellent start to your great white experiences. The afternoon is to be enjoyed at your leisure. Overnight The Roundhouse B&B.
Day 3:
Another early start to the day and head down to the crew house for your second Great White Shark dive. You will be much more composed this time round and most of our clients also get much better photos on their second tour as they are much more relaxed.
Day 4:
Today you will either utilize as a back up day for the Great Whites in case any of your two scheduled tours were cancelled due to bad weather OR you may wish to enjoy a third encounter with our sharks. If you are not diving you will enjoy breakfast at the Roundhouse then check out.
4 Night - Shark Alley Diver Itinerary

Day 1:
Arrive in Gansbaai and at the Roundhouse at your leisure. Overnight The Roundhouse B&B.
Day 2:
This morning you will embark on your scheduled Great White Shark Tour. The tour is 2 1/2 – 3 hours long and will give you a taste of the experience. It is found that your first experience is a crazy adrenaline pumped affair. The afternoon is to be enjoyed at your leisure. Overnight The Roundhouse B&B.
Day 3:
Another early morning start and head down to the crew house. You will know now what to expect on your tour and this trip normally is much different than the first as you will be much more composed today. Most people find also that they take much better photos and videos on their second tour as they are much more relaxed. You will be finished at around 1-2PM then you can explore the area and enjoy the Whales along the rocks again. Overnight The Roundhouse B&B.
Day 4:
A third day on the water with the Great White Sharks. You will now be a pro at this! Overnight The Roundhouse B&B.
Day 5:
If the weather has been good during your stay then you can enjoy breakfast at the Roundhouse and then check out. You will have another opportunity to do yet another tour if you wish or if the weather was bad during your stay then you can use this morning to get another shark dive in.
